Recommendation Factors

Our steering committee researched and discussed each candidate.  These recommendations are the result of that effort.

To learn much more about each candidate please click the candidate names below.

Glen Aldrich - Not Recommended:  Extremist Free State libertarian from NJ, one of only 13 state reps supporting NH’s secession from the U.S., supported libertarian take-over of Gunstock Area Commission, followed Mike Sylvia/Norm Silber efforts to gut the county budget. Mr. Aldrich chose not to attend the District 6 candidates forum.

Russell Dumais Recommended: Conservative incumbent who lives in Gilford, former teacher and business owner.  Fierce defender of Gunstock and a return to responsible Belknap County government.  Mr. Dumais chose not to attend the District 6 candidates forum.

Kurt Webber - Recommended:  West Point-educated 23-year Army officer, served in Iraq and Afghanistan, co-founder of veterans organization providing recreational opportunities to returning vets.  Reasonable and responsible on county issues.

Jonathan D. Arsenault  - Not Recommended:  Made no effort to campaign or answer questionnaires.

Bob McLeanRecommended:  Committed to local community as Gilford school board member and coach, town budget committee, years as ski instructor at Gunstock.  Stated positions indicated reasonable and responsible positions on county institutions, funding levels.

David Nagel  - Recommended:  Incumbent and medical pain management specialist, Rep. Dr. Nagel is a key voice on medical and human services in the NH House.  He is reasonable and responsible on county issues and NH needs more reps like him.

Lena Nirk - Recommended:  Former 15-year EPA professional, with second career in substance abuse counseling.   Now retired, she volunteers with a number of organizations.  We find her positions on county issues to be reasonable and responsible.

Harry H. Bean  - Recommended:  Conservative Incumbent and Gilford resident with deep roots in the community, small business owner. Credited with forcing reorganization of Belknap County Delegation, turning the tide on the libertarian takeover of Gunstock. Mr Bean chose not to attend the District 6 Candidate Forum
